how to save your favourite places in google maps on android phone

  1. I don't have this option. I used to but now when I press and hold the pin, nothing happens. I don't get a save option anymore. And Google forums is useless as no Google techs ever post or answer the questions there. just a bunch of people complaining about the same issue but no one knows what to do about it. I don't appreciate the way Google hooks in its users and then leaves them dangling when they have implementation issues. Anyone know how to contact their tech support (if they even have any. But I guess that might cut into their gazzilion dollar profits!)

  2. Pretty dumb of google maps to make you jump through all these hoops. They should just let you rename an address to whatever you want once it finds the address. Eg……joes house, bbq restaurant, baseball field etc.

  3. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this, but it's not all that bad in the end. My locations will save as contacts for future phones.

If you don't care about your privacy you can go to the /myplaces link above, edit the saved locations, and they will update onto your phone. But this is ONLY if you have Web & App Activity tracking turned on for your Google account (not to be confused with Location History). You can also edit them directly from your phone if this setting is turned on.

But I don't want a company tracking and saving everything I do then selling my info to other companies. I hate having ads thrown in my face and my personal activity posted all over the web for anyone to see…

Also if you prefer not to write them all down and type them into new contacts, you can do this:

    1. Tap the saved place.
    2. Tap the Route button.
    3. Tap the address/coordinates in the destination field.
    4. Highlight and copy.
